Working with Families
My name is Mrs Dunkley and I am a Family Learning Outreach Worker. My role includes working with families to encourage parents to be fully engaged and involved with their child’s learning. Please take a look at the information below to learn more about the different ways that we are working with parents and families.
Family Learning
Family learning is an opportunity for parents and children to spend time together working on curriculum based activities. Therefore allowing parents to be more fully engaged with their child’s learning.
This year we are running a Family Learning sessions on a rota basis to ensure that we can focus fully on the work covered within each year group.
This half term we will be focusing on Family Fun with Maths. This will be a six week course run jointly by Derby City Adult Learning Service and Shelton Junior School. Sessions are open to all year groups with the focus being on having fun whilst developing Maths skills through a variety of different activities.
Sessions take place every Wednesday from 1:30-3:15pm in the Library.
Parent Workshops
Parent workshops take place each month with each month having a focus on a different subject. Please feel free to attend as many of the workshops as you would like. Copies of the handouts will be available on the website if you are unable to attend.

During this half term we will be continuing to run a number of after school family-themed sessions to encourage parents to become more involved with our school. All parents are invited to attend all of these sessions or just those that interest them. After school sessions will mainly be art and craft based for children and parents to attend together.
